Okay, I’m Running.

Friday I filed a Campaign Treasurers Appointment for a run to be the City Council Representative for District 8. That means that I can legally accept donations and spend money for my campaign. It’s the necessary first step to get elected.

The election is not till November. That’s a long road. But I’m starting early so I can recover if I make a mistake.

As a first time candidate, I expect I’ll make a few mistakes.

I’m not a politician. I don’t want to be one. But I think City Council could benefit from fewer politicians.

I plan to bring some critical thinking to City Council. And I think City Council could benefit from some critical thinking.

I’d appreciate your support.

  1. Good Luck, Rich! I’d offer to move, just so I could be in your district, but somehow I don’t think that’s going to happen. I must say that your district looks like a typical Texas gerrymandered district, though, doesn’t it?

  2. Never wrestle with a pig. You’ll both get dirty and the pig LIKES it. That being said, you have my support

  3. That sounds fantastic. l made a promise and in the near future l will keep that promise. l’ll say more about this later because right now l’m super tired and l need my beauty sleep. After all, l didn’t get this “handsome” by accident.

  4. I’m with you and will donate money to your cause. Is it too late to “kill” the Arena? I am not sure what the people of El Paso were thinking…..why do we need another “arena” when we have the Don Haskins as well as the Civic Center and Abraham Chavez theater? If it was such a big “stadium” event, which aren’t even happening anymore, (Pink Floyd, Stones, U2), we have the UTEP football stadium.

Taxes ARE going up, and this is looking like a giant white elephant once its built. As you’ve mentioned before, there is no anchor tenant and I don’t see any major sports team moving to El Paso. Not enough disposable income to begin with. So, what will the maintenance costs be just to keep it running?

No knocks on El Paso, but after years of begging for a Whole Foods, El Paso can’t even support it….sales are not looking good and Heinz lost his job over it. That’s we don’t have a Trader Joes, Total Wine, Torchy’s Tacos, etc. We had to give Top Golf 5 Million $$$ to come here…
