It’s Better to Hire a Legislator Than a Lobbyist

For the person doing the hiring. Not for the legislator’s constituents.

District 78 State Representative Joe Moody’s day job is at WestStar Bank. You know. WestStar Bank at WestStar Tower at Hunt Plaza. I’m sure he’s pulling down a solid six figures from WestStar.

A Texas State Representative makes $7,200 a year, plus a per diem of $30,940 for the every-other-year that the legislature is in session. For two years, that works out to $45,340, plus maybe a little extra per diem for special sessions.

So what does WestStar get for employing a state legislator?

They get his ear. They get his influence. Apparently, they get his dedication and devotion.

To whom to you think Joe Moody owes his loyalty?

I’m thinking it’s the guys signing his big paycheck, and not his constituents.

  1. And the problem is. The other local politicians pay arrention to every word he says. I have seen firsthand how closely they fall in a daze when he talks

    1. I have seen other members of our state delegation nod like bobble heads and parrot his speaking points in public forums.
