Daniel Marans, a HuffPost reporter who covers the Democratic Party, on Thursday discussed his recent story on House Democrats who are asking for help to fend off progressive primary challengers.
Marans reported moderate Democratic House members Jimmy Gomez (Calif.) and Veronica Escobar (Texas) both requested help from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) in fending off more-liberal challengers from within their own party.
Gomez and Escobar were part of a party-sponsored video call with donors in which five “frontline” lawmakers, or those who are in districts at risk of being flipped to Republican candidates, were being highlighted.
Someone is running against Vero? Right. I reckon Vero can keep her seat till her ambition takes it away from her.
She was just there to lend her rising star power.
The GOP typically runs a sacrificial lamb here to fill out the spot on the ballot. I should volunteer since I have no political past or future and am GOP, sort of. I wouldn’t hurt anyone and I actually respect Vero, though not in political agreement with her. Beto was a friend and I thought he should have stayed in office.
In El Paso, Republicans need to carefully pick their Democrat candidates since a GOP doesn’t have a snowflakes chance in hell of winning. It’s just the way it is.
