Did you see this story in the El Paso Times about the money the City has spent fighting to put that arena in Duranguito?
The city has spent close to $2 million on three outside law firms for services related to the Downtown multipurpose arena the past two years.
The law firms were retained by the city to handle land acquisition deals and to assist in litigation related to the controversial $180 million project.
By my count, the City has spent five, maybe six, days in court. And, by my count, for three hearings, they’re 0-2 and 1. No wins, two losses, and a tie.
Lucky for them, they’re not spending their own money. Unfortunately, they’re spending our money.
No wonder they needed to raise taxes.
