Interesting, though anyone who watches the 7-minute story will see that the idea emerged in 1999; and about twenty years ago, based on a ¨consultant? report,¨ got built in the WRONG place–the middle of nowhere. Thanks to the current administration for closing it down and looking for other use options. In many states and cities, we need protection from and accountability for nameless consultants (or those consultants named in EP for the forthcoming $800K report).

  2. Civic leaders fall in love with an idea, talk it up, everyone wants on board, find a consultant to create a business case and, if that doesn’t work, find another consultant who will. When it finally becomes obvious that it doesn’t work, reorganize or privatize and hide results from public scrutiny.
