The Kentucky Club is still closed after denying admittance to the governor of the Raramuri community in Juarez in November. The suspension began November 26.
I have to think that there’s more going on there than meets the eye.
First the city began to enforce the capacity law at the Kentucky Club a year ago. (It used to take half an hour to walk from the front door to the bathroom when it was busy.) Then the Kentucky Club was closed for a day in September for reportedly not paying taxes. And now the K Club has been closed for not admitting a member of the indigenous community.
It’s reprehensible. But the Raramuri are regularly discriminated against in Juarez. A reliable source tells me that the Raramuri are not even admitted to the Rodadora children’s museum in Juarez.
So sure, it’s reprehensible, but it looks like selective enforcement. Let’s see what happens.
