The El Paso Police Department has a thing for killing people having mental health crises.

The guy was asking for help. “Call 9 1 1,” he said repeatedly. And how did the officer respond?
“Get the fuck down or I’m gonna tase you.”
Is that how you talk to an unarmed man having a mental health crisis? And the poor now dead guy didn’t look like Dave Bautista, or Bruce Lee. No disrespect, but the guy looked as threatening as a doughnut.
What kind of human would not show some empathy and compassion to a person who was obviously in so much distress? Who does that?
Do the cops have any social skills beyond “Get the fuck down or I’m gonna tase you.”?
If the victim had jumped off the Yarbrough overpass, he might have, at worst, broken a leg or two, (unless he took a header). At least he would have had a chance. Instead, the cops took his life.
I’m an old white guy who rarely leaves the house after dark. I have zero interaction with the police. So I only know what I read in the media. What I read in the media isn’t good.
If you or your loved one is having a mental health crisis, don’t call the cops. The cops don’t help people like us.
