Sunday Matinee: Sword of the Beast

This is a great Western. It’s so far west, it’s set in Japan. A solitary wandering gun (sword) man, chased by a band of bad guys, and a humorous sidekick. And treachery and betrayal. Lots of treachery and betrayal. One of the best lines of the movie comes at the very beginning.

“So how about some fun now, with me? Might as well. You could die at any moment.”

There’s even a point in the movie when one of the bad guys says to the protagonist, “Draw.”

From 1965, in black and white, and Japanese. You’ll have to turn on the subtitles by clicking on the little gear in the lower right corner.
