Here’s some surprising information from our friends at the El Paso Central Appraisal District.
An entity called 323 Chihuahua LLC bought the property at 323 Chihuahua Street on September 30, 2016. That address is in the footprint of the proposed arena.
The mailing address for 323 Chihuahua LLC is 4939 Meadowlark Drive. According to the EPCAD, that property is owned by Woodley L and Gayle G Hunt, and Stacy S Hunt.
I’m sure there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for it. Their maid probably bought it, or maybe they were looking for some vacation property.
What was that? Two weeks BEFORE the announcement on the arena location?
If I were cynical, Mr. 45, I would conjecture that this property exchange was to make sure that the buyers had skin in the game, and putting the arena in Duranguito was in their best interests, and not just the interests of their country club buddies.
Unless it really was the housekeeper.
And, how would they explain this when they turn around and sell that property to the City for an exorbitant markup?
That stinks. It sure looks like someone on Council or in City administration leaked the location to Mr. Hunt. Has nothing changed in El Paso? Seems like deals are done exactly as they were 60 years ago.
