Isn’t it curious that the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce supports the arena?
Wouldn’t you think that the Chamber would be against raising taxes on small businesses?
El Paso already has among the highest commercial and industrial property tax rates in the country. Second or third highest, last time I checked. And there’s no way we’re going to spend $180 million on the arena, plus Operations and Maintenance costs from now till eternity, and not end up raising taxes.
And it’s not like the Chamber is for the arena a little bit. They’re for it bigly.
You’ve got to wonder what they’re thinking.
Are they going to tell you that the arena will expand the business base for El Pasoans?
Are they going to tell you that black is white and the sky is yellow?
Do you think that maybe the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce supports El Paso’s big businessmen at the expense of small businesses?
If you’re a member of the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, maybe you should reconsider some of your life choices. Will the arena benefit you? Will it help your business?
Or will it be another unwarranted cost your business will have to bear with no actual benefit to you?
Re-thinking building the arena at all at this critical point in time would be prudent.
