In El Paso, if a political faction doesn’t have anything constructive to offer, they go on the attack.
If someone is against an ill conceived project with the ostensible goal of economic development in downtown, they’re against progress. If they’re against a multi-million dollar boondoggle which has the ostensible goal of children’s health, they’re against healthy children.
Instead of offering solutions, or accepting responsibility, the “progressives” and their minions attack their critics. The old guard Democrat party was just as bad, offering ego instead of ability. They act like serving their masters is more important than principle. Like selling out to one faction instead of another makes them more virtuous.
It’s too bad that no one is looking out for the citizens. I would love to have a candidate who promised to look out for non-voting El Pasoans. People didn’t quit voting because they don’t care. They quit voting because they’re tired of the bullshit.
Wouldn’t that be novel approach for a candidate? To promise to represent the citizens, whether they vote or not? An approach like that might mobilize a reluctant electorate. Or at least result in better government.
