Did you see where El Paso’s unemployment rate was below the national average again last month? Economists are puzzled, because El Paso also lost jobs in March.

“As an economist, I just don’t feel that good about the low unemployment rate in El Paso,” said Carlos Aguilar, an economics instructor at El Paso Community College. “You would expect a much better economy” with the low unemployment rate, he said.

I’m not surprised. The El Paso branch of the Texas Workforce Commission has a new CEO, and she’s always been real good with numbers.
