Have you noticed that since Gannett announced the takeover of the El Paso Times that the quality of their reporting has really improved? No more front page stories about TV’s falling at breastaurants, or pieces about Whataburger cutting their breakfast hours. No more regurgitating press releases pretending it’s investigative reporting. It’s almost as if they’re interested in real news.
I bet there are a lot of nervous people over there at the Times, wondering when and where the ax will fall.
I hope the guys with the sharp pencils over there at Gannett take into account the paucity of real reporting El Paso has suffered the last few years when they initiate their cost cuts. A newspaper can really set the tempo for a community.
