Words and Their Meanings

El Paso City Attorney Karla Nieman had a birthday party for her daughter, in apparent contravention of the order against having gatherings of ten or more, except for people from the same household.

From KFOX.com:

A high-ranking city employee in El Paso said she did not disregard COVID-19 safety measures while hosting an birthday party for her daughter during the shutdown. KFOX14 reached out to the city attorney, Nieman responded following the city presser conference Thursday.

. . .

“While my personal life and family’s activities should be private, I would like to simply say that like many families in El Paso, mine is a multigenerational family that is part of one household. We have been adhering to the City and County guidelines, and it is unfortunate that my daughter’s birthday with her parents and grandparents is a subject of conversation.”

One household? Ms. Nieman’s kids and in-laws, all huddled together in one 2,700 square foot house?

From Wikipedia:

A household consists of one or more people who live in the same dwelling and share meals. It may also consist of a single family or another group of people. A dwelling is considered to contain multiple households if meals or living spaces are not shared.

Do you think that Karla Nieman and her in-laws live in the same house? Her father-in-law is Charles Nieman, the Pastor of the Abundant Living Faith Center. Do you reckon that her father-in-law lives in the same 2,700 square foot house as Karla and Jared Nieman?

I reckon that if you’re a City Attorney, making more than $200,000 a year, you should know words. Is Ms. Nieman going to tell us that she doesn’t know the definition of the word “household”?

Let’s all chip in and buy her a subscription to Wikipedia.com.

Here’s one of the things that the Bible says about lying, from Proverbs 6:16-19:

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

I reckon that Ms. Nieman has half of those abominations covered, maybe more, but I don’t know her that well.

  1. Nieman is a master at re-assigning meaning to laws and the words that describe them. That’s basically her job description. Assign new meaning to existing laws that will allow mayor Margo to get away with breaking City Charter and Ethics Rules. The only reason she was hired. She disfigures and discredits her profession.

    1. She’s an marginally competent City Attorney working for an incompetent City Government. All she’s got is lying, God bless her.

    2. Oh, not just the mayor…don’t forget the rest of the “Team,” especially T-Rex. He needs supporting interpretations..

    1. When I said the she had half of those abominations covered, you did the math. You know I was counting the haughty eyebrows.

  2. “Abundant Living” considers themselves above the masses—-I cringe at the thought that Mrs. Nieman is the City Attorney of El Paso…..”Multi Generational Households.”? All those Abundant Living “Pastors” are all living under ONE roof? Sorry, I smell several rats. 4 legged and 2 legged.
