Tolbert Cashes In

A story in the El Paso Times says that District 2 Representative Jim Tolbert received big donations from two of the principals of MountainStar Sports.

Tolbert received $2,000 from Chairman and CEO of Hunt Companies Woody Hunt, $1,500 from President and CEO of Sierra Machinery Maria Teran, $1,000 from businessman Paul Foster and $1,000 from Thad Steele, president of T&T Staff Management Inc. He also collected $500 each from WestStar Bank CEO Frederick Francis and Tropicana Homes executives Robert Bowling and Randall Bowling.

I wonder if the promise of campaign donations had anything to do with Rep. Tolbert flip-flopping on support for the arena.

You know what California politician Jesse “Big Daddy” Unruh said.

“If you can’t eat their food, drink their booze, screw their women, take their money and then vote against them you’ve got no business being up here.”

  1. l live in district 2 and l do a fair amount of walking. l’m happy to report that l have yet to see any pro Tolbert signs. And with this latest news, l’m going to predict that Tolbert will receive almost as many votes as Kim Jong-un.
