The calendar is full and the moon is gibbous. Here are some of the most El Paso things you can do around El Paso today.
Happy Hour with the Frontera Bugalú at Malolam – Frontera Bugalú has a Friday Happy Hour residency at Malolam through the end of the month, and maybe a little longer. The Cumbia Dance Party runs from 6 to 8 today, at Monticello on North Mesa.
Cumpleaños de Maria at the Oasis Bar, on El Paso Drive behind Fox Plaza – If Malolam is a little
pricey fancy for you, go check out Maria’s Birthday Party at the Oasis. Cumbias, rancheras, and probably a little musica romantica are yours to be had, on the jukebox. Get there early (sixish) before the food is gone.
The Birdogs at Aceitunas – Get down and dirty in a wholesome adult fashion with these roots rockers at El Paso’s original patio bar. 9:30, on Doniphan, by Thorn.
The Big Lebowski at the Plaza Classic Film Festival – If you don’t think the Big Lebowski is one of the best movies ever, well, then, that’s just like your opinion, man. Have a couple of Caucasians and enjoy the show. 9:30 in the main theater.
Indios versus Algonderos – It’s the semifinals for the State Championship at the Estadio de Beisbol in Juarez, with the Juarez Indios taking on perennial rivals the Delicias Algonderos. Uber it, or take a taxi. 6 PM.
Also, there’s supposed to be a big meteor shower tonight, so load up the 4 x 4 and get out where the light pollution don’t rob you of a night sky. Go early, before the moon comes up around 10:30.
Lots to do, so do it.
