It was a lot of responsibility to unilaterally saddle El Paso taxpayers with debt from the ballpark, and now those responsible are trying to avoid it.
Whatever happened to man up? Why the secrets and revisionism? Everyone makes mistakes. Maybe not $27 million mistakes, but mistakes nonetheless. Why squirm?
If one’s heart is truly pure, if one made decisions that were truly in the best interests of the community, and not for the benefit of special interests, then a body should not be ashamed to own those decisions.
El Paso needs more truth and less lawyering up.
