Moonlighting

I was browsing the most interesting site on the internet, and I found this.

Bryan Crowe is the City of El Paso Quality of Life Managing Director.

He serves as chief executive of Destination El Paso, the destination marketing and venue management organization for El Paso, Texas, branded as Visit El Paso for destination marketing and as El Paso Live for venue management. Responsible for convention and meeting development, tourism developmeent, film commission, marketing/branding of the destination, and operation of over 2M gross square feet of public assets – a convention center, two performing arts centers, three parking garage facilities, two outdoor public festival spaces, and an outdoor amphitheatre.

Additionally, he serves as Managing Director for the city’s Quality of Life departments – Destination El Paso, Museums and Cultural Affairs, Libraries, Parks and Recreation, and the Zoo.

This seems to be an unusual situation, because, I believe, that Mr. Crowe also works for SMG, a private venue management company.

And I think that’s great. Unless the City is paying Mr. Crowe for a full-time job to which he’s only dedicating half his time. If he’s stiffing SMG, then I’m okay with that.
