Deming Settles Anal Probe Lawsuit

Deming and Hidalgo County have agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by a man who was subjected to an anal probe after a traffic stop. The man will receive 1.6 million, according to this story in the ABA Journal.

“It was medically unethical and unconstitutional,” his lawyer, Shannon Kennedy, told the Associated Press. “He feels relieved that this part is over and believes this litigation might make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.”

His lawsuit against the Gila Regional Medical Center and the doctors who performed the procedures continues, which is significant to the ongoing litigation facing El Paso’s University Medical Center.
