Deliver us from idiots.

Let me get this straight.

To highlight his message on immigration, the Pope will visit the actual border (presumably, the river) and El Paso, the safest city in the U.S., will respond by augmenting the already considerable military presence on the border with more police and a complete ban on civilian travel on the U.S. side?

Do our local politicians not know who this Pope is? Or are they trying to contain his message?

Maybe they’re just trying to be ironic.

  1. I have been wondering about this myself, along with the need to close schools, freeways, streets, roads, and government offices. One excuse I heard is that they somehow expect such huge crowds to gather that everything will come to a halt, anyway. Yes, even though the Pope will be on the other side of the border. You know, that border that can’t be crossed anywhere within the city limits these days without interacting with the CBP gestapo. It is much like the belief that the Sun Bowl will be full to overflowing with people who want to see the Pope on TV (like that never happens in today’s world).

  2. I don’t know, but the history books on my self say catholicism has been responsible for a goodly amount of death and destruction over the years…I’d arm up.
